Big Island Life

Here are some things you should know about me by now: I love to travel, I love to bring my camera with me everywhere I go, and any excuse to travel and take pictures, well I’m pretty much on board immediately. The stars aligned this fall to do some amazing traveling as well as work. My boyfriend also had an opportunity to do some remodeling work. His land lord has a place in Hawaii and she asked him to do some work on the place and in return we could stay there for a month. Wouldn’t you be on board? A month Hawaii, don’t mind if I do.

Being a freelance photographer has its perks. I can pack up my mobile office and hit the road. And that’s exactly what I did. We have been here for about three weeks, most of our time being taken up with the remodeling projects and a few days here and there for some adventuring.  Most days so far have been spent in the apartment complex’s beach and pool area, watching sunsets and exploring the little town about 2 miles down the road. I’ve also been trying to get into Infinite Jest for the third time, reading through my first Rumi book and hula hooping. It makes for a wonderful sunset hour. The sunsets here are glorious. I have been taking way too many sunset pictures, I mean really, how many sunset pictures does one need? Apparently I still need more. I’ve also been working on different ways to shoot water and playing with long exposure night photography. Here are some shots of island life I thought I would share.

Enjoy
